In a world where society claims to forgive, the reality often paints a different picture. We are told to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of our past, to embrace each bad chapter as a lesson. Yet, how often are people truly allowed to leave their past behind? Mistakes cling like roots to a treeā€”an inseparable part of who we are, shaping how we are judged and remembered. This thought-provoking book delves into the harsh truth: can anyone truly escape their past, or will society always hold it against them? Through powerful storytelling, it explores the journey of self-redemption and the constant battle for acceptance. Will the characters rise above the judgment, or will their past define them forever?

MARYAM'S POV :

(Flashback)

It's almost two months when we shifted to Aatish's home his still didn't get any Job which was making him more rude day by day.

"Aatish don't take so much stress, you will get a job soon" I said sitting beside him, he was laying on his back watching the ceiling silently.

"Aatish.." I shook his shoulder and he looked up suddenly.

"Where are you lost?" I asked and he was still silent. Its been one and a half month he was not talking, he stay quite all the time, keep thinking about something but he never shared what he was thinking.

"What are you thinking?" I asked and he shook his head in reply

"Aatish please talk to me. I don't have anyone whom with I talk." I said while making my brows furrowed and he sat down on bed with jolt..

"I don't have anything to talk... You don't know about my condition. From morning to evening I run from one pole to other just to find a job but I'm getting the one. Maryam I never did this type of efforts in my life which I'm doing for you" He suddenly yelled on me and I was shocked on that.

"Aatish I also never faced these problems in my life which I'm facing after marriage. I don't remember a single day in these eight months of our marriage which was perfect. But I'm adjusting too with you." I also yelled on him.

"What should I do except this? I'm doing each and everything which I can do but in not getting success" He again yelled on me.

"I'm not saying that you are not doing efforts but why are you shouting on me? I'm also facing the same problem. Girls dream about their marriage and beautiful married life but I am not getting any happiness.... Still I'm not behaving rude with you neither I'm ignoring you like you are doing with me" I pour out my anger in words and he glared me.

"You sit here without any problem and I give my atmost to find out a job so that we can live together happily" He said as if he was doing a great favour for me

"Aatish I am living here like... Like a taboo, my face is anathema to your parents. I'm not allowed to go anywhere, I'm not allowed to talk to anyone. Other day your nephew come here while playing and when I talk to him he said he isn't allowed to talk to me because his grandparents said him to do so.... They are treating me like a disgusting thing and you are saying that I sit here without any problem. I agree that you are facing problems but I'm also facing problems" I yelled in him and he glared me before stepping out fron the bed.

"Go to hell, there isn't any benefit to talk to you, Ammi and Baba were correct. No matter Whatever I do for you, you can't see my efforts you are only thinking about your ownself." saying that he angrily held the room, I walked behind him, he was going towards stairs. I took three steps stairs but this father was standing near the staircase so I took back steps without wasting any time.

Next two days we didn't talk to each other I was experiencing a different fear in my heart. In the end I put my ego aside and decided to talk to him. But I slept early, I didn't realised when he came back. When I opened my eyes that was midnight, and Aatish was sleeping facing towards me. After sacrificing with my ego I shook his shoulder slowly and he open his eyes in deep slumber.

"Aatish... I love you" I mumbled and hugged him, he hugged me back and kissed my cheek. And we both again slept in each other's embrace.

THIRD PERSON'S POV :

Aatish open his eyes with the first Ray of sun and found Maryam sleeping in his embrace, he was surprised because he wasn't expecting anything like that. He removed his arm on which Maryam's head was resting and stepped out fron the bed, without looking at her, who was in deep sleep.

Aatish got ready and came back to the bedroom, he sat down beside Maryam and keep watching her for some ten minutes.

"Maryam today is the last day, I can't tolerate more" saying that he averted his eyes suddenly and stepped out fron the room.

"Where are you going so early?" His parents who were busy in their breakfast asks and he turned around to face them.

"To search for any job" He said in hushed tone.

"Have your breakfast?" His elder brother asked and he slowly shook his head in reply.

"Woh maharani to Sirf sajane ke liye hai na... Na khane ka dhyaan rakhti hai na kisi aur cheez ka" his mother jerked her head and passed a taunt.

(Is your wife only a showpiece!! Neither she cooks nor she take your care)

"Ammi jab ghar me kuch hoga hi nahi to wo kya pakayegi meri liye?" saying that with frustration he stepped towards the door but stopped by his father's call.

(Ammi when There isn't anything in home to cook then what will she cook?)

"Aatish come, and have breakfast" his father said and he stepped towards the dining table. He sat down and started having breakfast

"Haven't you Got any job yet?" his brother asked and he shook his head while sipping tea.

"No one is ready to give job to me, if I says that I don't have any experience then they need any experienced one, and if I says that I have few months experience in printing line then they asks that why I left the job. No one wants to give job to the employee who left the job in between" Aatish shared his problem with his brother and he nodded.

"Shadi ki to bohot jaldi thi, ab pta chala ek roti kamane ke bhi layaq nahi ho tum. Aaj tak bhi baap ki kamai par pal rahe ho" His father said as a taunt while looking at the bread which was in his hand.

(You were despirate to get married,, now you got to know that you are not able to earn a single time meal you are still dependent on your father's earning)

Aatish didn't got courage to took a single bite from the bread slice and put that back in plate.

"Aap ye sari bate ise kyu keh rahe hain? Pesa to aurat ki qismat se aata hai, mab wo ladki hi manhus hai to ise nokri kese milegi? Jab se shadi kari hai pareshan hi hai." Aatish looked at his mother on this sentance, he was she was listening the same thing since a month and then these words were embedded in his head.

(Why are you saying all these things to him. Wealth belongs to wife's destiny. That girl is very unlucky, that's why he is not getting any job. He is in problems since he had done Marriage with that girl)

"I'm still saying, divorce that girl and join family business. Choice is still yours" Aatish and his brother both looked at his father.

"Baba what are you saying, She is his wife... How can..." Aatish's brother was saying something when he got a deadly glare from his Father and he shut his mouth because he also depends on his family business for his livelihood.

"Ammi should I also give breakfast to Maryam" Aatish's bhabhi asked in hushed tone, and she also got a glare in reply.

"You both don't try to be free with that girl." Aatish's father scolded his elder son and his wife in angry voice and both nodded.

Aatish checked his pockets to find out some money but didn't found anything to bring something to eat for Maryam. With a cold sigh he lelf the home.

On the other hand Maryam was sleeping peacefully without knowing that what will going to be happen with her after hours. Aatish's bhabi found a chance when her parents-in-law were not in front of her, she made her way to Maryam's room and placed some biscuits, eggs and bread in the kitchen. When Maryam woke up and found those things there she thought Aatish put that for her. She smiled in her heart thinking that Aatish was no more offended with her. She ate the biscuits and left eggs for dinner, so that they both have something to eat.

..........................

The Mr. Hot of his college was facing the Hotness of sun in the month of July but still he was trying his best to got a single job, he was ready to do any small work but luck was not with his side. After spending many hours in searching for a job he was wandering on the road, thinking about his life which became upside down in few months. His throat was cracked due to thirst and feet here painnigWhen he felt so much tired he didn't think anything and sat down on pootpath holding his head with both of his hands.

"I can't live like this, I tired of my life, I'm tired of my situation" Aatish mumbled and felt broken.

''Aatish''

"Aatish..." He came to his scenes when someone shook his shoulder. He looked up after removing his hands from his face and found his college friend who was standing in front of him

"Aatish What are you doing here and why are you sitting like this on the road?" his friend asked and Aatish made himself stand while wiping off the dust from his pants.

"Nothing, I was going to home..." Aariah made an excuse

"Dude it's very hot, come in" Aatish's friend said but he was still lost somewhere.

"How your business is going? And Congratulations for your marriage!" His friend said happily and his voice made Aatish realise that he was on road, not in his home. He nodded his head trying to show that he is happy but his expressions were not complimenting his answer.

"Come in, this is my office. I started a small travels agency" his friend said while gesturing towards an office behind Aatish and he nodded.

"Sit yaar why are you behaving strange? And how is your Rose?" His friends offered him seat when he stepped in the fully air conditioned office and his friend asked the last part with a teasing smile and wink.

"Fine" Aatish said with a fake smile and ask for water to his friend, but his friend ordered soft drinks for both of them instead of plain water. Aatish was sipping that drink and thinking about his condition, his friend was the guy who always asks for treat from Aatish in his college time. But that day he was giving treat to Aatish who didn't had a single penny in his pocket.

"Now I should took my leave" saying that Aatish made his way back to the door of office, after shaking his hand with his friend.

He opened the door of office and a gust of hot wind hit his face, that was July, so the the sun was ready to burn everything. Aatish again started his unknown journey towards an unknown destination drenched with sweat but holding a hope in his heart.

But soon he was going to break Maryam's heart....

After the resultless efforts of whole day he went back to his home at night. With small steps and down face he moved towards the stairs bit stopped when his mother call him. He made his way to the room where his mother was sitting on rocking chair....

"Ammi... I'm tired" Aatish said and kneeled down in front of his mother, placing his head on his mother's lap. And His mother caressed his hair.

"Ammi I can't live life like this. I'm tired of my life..." He said with broken voice, it seems his heart was crying

"What do you want to do Aatish? Do you want share in business?" his mother asked and he nodded, his mother was still massaging his hair.

"I'll talk to your baba, but you already know what he wants... Divorce Maryam and take your share in business" his mother said and he closed his eyes

"Baba will give me share in business if I followed what he wanted?" his mother nodded in agreement

MARYAM'S POV :

I'll talk to him, I can't live with his rude behaviour" looking in mirror I said to myself. That that I wore red and black suit which was Aatish's favourite

I Picked up few black bangles but then put that back and picked the red glass bangles because Aatish always says that he like red colours on me, I wore the same in both wrists. Then applied red lipstick and pressed my lips together to spread that evenly.

Meanwhile I listened knocking sound on the door and looked at the clock which was showing 11:45 of night.

"coming" I yelled while applying Aatish's favourite fragrance.

"Aatish, I was waiting for you since two hours" I complaint after opening the door.

"I wasn't roaming around" Aatish replied and my smile went to its end, but I suddenly maintained that.

"Go and freshen up I'm serving food for you" I said and he ignored.

"Aatish, what I have done? Why are you offended with me?" I asked while holding Aatish's arm but he stay stand as if I wasn't exist.

"Aatish.., Aatish please na.. You know na I don't have anyone except you in this world. Please don't be offended with me. I can't live without you" Even after that much big speech Aatish was silent and I was clueless about the reason. He went to bathroom and came out after some fifteen minutes..
