But it didn't happen, the boy was married to someone else and the girl was broken from inside, but she hide all those tears and pains behind her beautiful smile. Six years along with the line her love faded and dreams glorified. Her great efforts, hard work and passion made her a girl of great renown. She got wealth and happiness in her life; and realised that she wouldn't get all those things if got married with that boy, because then she would only focus on her love not career! On the other hand..... A man was madly in love with a girl! His eternal love was free from lust or any kind of carnality. His heart prayed to get his love with every beat, but every time destiny doesn't give what one wants! Maybe scattering hearts into pieces is destiny's favourite game! So with a plan, Destiny took him apart from his love, converted him into a desireless person. His head was resting in her lap and her fingers were running in his hair to give him the amount of peace and joy he deserves. The pillow was uncomfortable for him so he had chosen the most expensive pillow which was reserved only for him.
She smiled looking at the 30 year old man who was behaving like a kid just five minutes ago. The room was bright due to the big glass windows which were allowing light to enter the room but he wasn't comfortable sleeping in the bright room. Moreover the sheer curtains weren't helping him. So, Pulling the corner of her dupatta from her neck he covered his face.
Shifa cupped his face with her left hand and the other hand kept massaging his head. "I'm not an idiot but you're." She muttered while seeing his hand which was grabbing her left hand in deep slumber.
She could enjoy the beautiful view from the window but here she was enjoying the most peaceful sight: Her husband sleeping- resting his head in her lap.
"Yeah beta, Just a minute." Shifa suddenly looked up towards the door, which was opened by the a woman and she stepped in.
Both were surprised to see each other in this room. "Umm... I... I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here." The lady in her late twenties stood up hesitantly so was Shifa.
"You're Shifa. Right?"
"How do you know? And who are you?"
"Chachu told me that his daughter is coming today, I was living here for the last ten days to look after him but when I got to know that you're coming I already left to go back to my home." The lady explained and Shifa nodded but she understood nothing as she was still in shock because of this intruding.
"I'm sorry to bother you but.... I'm coming back from the railway station because I forgot my laptop here."
"Oh... It's okay." Shifa muttered and looked at Daniyal who was fast asleep in the same position. She felt more nervous and looked at the lady.
"It's okay. Even I'm sorry to disturb you. I just... I need my laptop." She muttered while taking steps towards the bed and opened the drawer to grab her laptop and pushed it into her bag her back was facing towards Shifa and Daniyal to give them a bit of privacy.
"Again I'm sorry to disturb you, I'm going back." Mumbling that she glanced at Shifa who had already shifted Daniyal's head on the pillow but his face was still covered with the corner of her dupatta to protect him from the bright light.
"No need to be sorry."
"Good to see you. Chachu was impatiently waiting for you." Shifa looked at the lady keenly and tried to remember when and where she had seen her. She never remembers faces and people in one meeting, but she felt like she already knew her. Meanwhile the little boy pulled his mother's hand and she sighed.
"I promise beta... I promise I'll buy the that robot and car too..."
"So you're Gudiya Aapi. Right?" Shifa asked and she nodded "abbu told me that you've been looking after him." Shifa added and Gudiya passed a nervous or fake smile, just like Shifa, she was also hesitant to meet new people.
"Your son is cute." Shifa couldn't help but smile wholeheartedly. "Just like his father." This time Gudiya's smile was real. Passing a nervous smile she turned to go but she was stopped by a voice.
"Excuse me."
"Hmm?" She turned to see Shifa.
"Umm... can I ask you something?"
"Yeah sure!" Gudiya replied with a hesitation filled smile.
"Are you the daughter of Abbu's elder brother?" Shifa asked in a hushed tone and Gudiya nodded. "Do you know about my Dad?" She asked and Shifa smiled with a nod.
"How is he? I wanna meet him. Can you please take me to him. I just wanna see him for at least once." Shifa's demand was genuine but Gudiya shook her head.
"Dad is no more. He passed away three years ago." That was sad news for Shifa, she never met her uncle but she loved and admired that man from the depths of her heart.
"May Allah grant him a high place in paradise, he was a great man. And how's your Ammi?" She muttered and Gudiya nodded.
"Yes, no doubt he was! And unfortunately, mummy also left us... She also passed away after a few months of dad's demise."
"I'm sorry for her too. She was very kind with my mumma. I wanted to meet them but..." Shifa muttered and Gudiya shrugged. "Can't change the reality."
"I know little about your Mummy, I've listened to Mummy and Dad talking about her sometimes. I'm sorry for whatever happened to her. I know... My grandparents were really cruel."
"Hmm... But your dad was different. He took a stand and left his parents... He showed his responsibility towards his wife and children unlike..." Shifa muttered sadly but left the sentence in between, she didn't want to make complaints about Aatish at this time when he was already in a miserable condition. But Gudiya understood the meaning of Shifa's untold words. She dragged the chair and sat down in front of the bed, letting her son play with the curtains of the window by drawing and opening them. "Grass always looks greener on the other side."
"What do you mean?" Shifa was looking confused.
"If you think that your life would be like a fairytale with Chachu so let me burst this bubble of yours, dear. Dad took years to take a stand... He might never take a stand against his parents if Chachu wasn't about to divorce your mother. My grandmother who was your grandmother too, hated girls in the form of granddaughters, she didn't accept my elder sister just because she was a girl and eventually Mummy and Dad gave her to my aunty, they were longing for their first child but the heartless lady didn't accept my sister. She was happy when my brother was born, but she was again unhappy with me." Gudiya was stopped for a moment and Shifa saw the other side of the coin.
"My sister hated Dad for twelve years because she felt abundant, she was longing to be loved and adored by her parents. Dad took Aapi back when he settled down in his business but he was unable to vanish all the differences between both of them... Aapi never forgave him for not taking a stand for her." Gudiya muttered and Shifa thought about this situation. If Aatish didn't divorce Maryam even then she had to crave for his love, maybe then she had to crave for Maryam's love too because her grandparents would never tolerate her in her home.
"I... I never knew that you have an elder sister too..." Shifa muttered and Gudiya shrugged. "You may not know anything other than what your mom told you."
"She told me nothing, I found everything on my own." Shifa muttered with a sad smile. "I hope now your sister understands the helplessness of your dad." Shifa was sorry for everything but Gudiya smiled like a sarcasm.
"Have you understood the reason behind Chachu's helplessness?" These words hit Shifa's heart like a big hammer. "Children don't understand their parents' situation until their feet come to their shoes." Gudiya muttered and looked at her son who was enjoying the beautiful view from the window.
"He is very stubborn. When he gets angry he shouts at me and calls me a liar, but he doesn't know, in how many chunks my heart broke when I give him false hopes. Maybe he'll understand my situation after some twenty years, but I'm sure before that he'll hate me." Gudiya had tears while mumbling the last part and Shifa felt her pain.
"Don't cry. He'll understand you..." Shifting on the edge of the bed Shifa placed her palm on Gudiya's hand to assure her. "But why are you lying to him?" Shifa couldn't help but ask.
"Because I don't have answers to his questions."
"What questions?"
"He wants me to know where his father is? When will he come back? Why doesn't he call him? He wants me to bring him back or send him to his father..."
"Umm... So what's the problem?" Shifa muttered as she didn't understand the reason and Gudiya looked up. "My husband passed away in an accident. Tomorrow is his second death anniversary." Shifa didn't know what Gudiya said but there was something in her eyes which scared a corner of her heart. An unnamed but powerful fear which clenched her heart.
Before Gudiya's eyes dropped a tear Shifa's eyes dropped two. The soft hearted little woman cried for someone else without knowing her actual identity!
"I must leave now, the next train is after an hour and I have to fulfill his demands too." Standing up from the chair Gudiya said with a dead smile and looked at her son.
"Zaryab, let's go. Greet aunty then we'll leave after meeting nanu." Gudiya aka Adeena held her hand towards her son who almost jumped towards her and held her hand happily.
"Mommy, don't forget my robot."
"No way. I can forget myself but your robot. Now go and greet aunty." Zaryab left his mother's hand and walked towards Shifa, lifting his little hand in the air he shook his hand with Shifa who just smiled.
"Hello aunty, how are you?"
"Leave how I am, what matters is that you're so cute." Shifa bent down to his level and kissed his cheek with a big smile. "Zaryab will you come to my home?" She asked and the little boy thought for a few moments then narrowed his eyes. "Do you have toys?"
"Umm... No. I don't have toys but there is a big swing in my home. You and I will enjoy chocolates on it. Do you like chocolates?" Shifa asked the last part with unmatched excitement.
"Yes... I love chocolates and swings too." The boy jumped and Shifa giggled. Pulling her dupatta from Daniyal's face Shifa placed it on her both shoulders properly and walked towards the corner of the room where the luggage was resting. Picking up her purse she opened it and drew out a small lot of chocolate from it along with a 500 rupees note.
"It's for you." Passing the chocolates to the little boy Shifa kissed his cheek one more time. "Wow, Ferrero Rocher! It's my favourite. Who brings so many chocolates for you?"
"Really? It's my favourite too. I have a magician... Whenever I am sad or angry he brings me a lot of chocolates." Zaryab was shocked to know about the magician so his mother was. Her eyes refused to blink when Shifa's dupatta uncovered the face of her husband.
"Daniyal." She couldn't hold her tongue to savor the taste of his name when he was in front of her eyes. Unintentionally her mind recalls each and every promise he made...
I won't give your place to anyone else Adeena.
My love starts from you and it'll be end on you only.
Your eyes are my home, and I don't wanna be homeless ever.
"Shifa?"
"Ji Gudiya Aapi?" She turned towards Adeena who was now wiping her eyes to dry the wetness of tears.
"Tumhari love marriage huyi hai ya arranged?"
(Was it a love marriage or arranged?)
"Umm... It's a love marriage as well as an arranged one... Actually... it's complicated to explain." Shifa felt hesitant, yet continued "but whatever happens before marriage isn't love, that's just a feeling of spending time together, however real love starts only after getting married." Shifa smiled wholeheartedly but Adeena smiled like a sarcasm. "Sometimes pre marriage love is also love... An irreplaceable, unrepeatable and unparalleled love..."
"Maybe," shifa shrugged, "But I guess, no one can replace a wife or husband, not even a true lover." Shifa said something from the depth of her heart because today she had seen Daniyal prioritising her over his ex-lover. She turned to glance at her husband who was sleeping on his stomach but suddenly her smile lost when she noticed his neck revealing a purplish red mark, she was red-faced due to shyness. She glanced at Adeena, surprisingly her eyes were shamelessly fixed on that mark only.
"Deni..." Shifa muttered and shook his shoulder but instead of waking up he turned his side which relaxed his wife to a good extent.
"Let's go Zaryab, we're already late."
"Bye bye aunty, thank you for the chocolates." Zaryab waved his hand and Shifa realised that she was still holding the 500 rupees note in her hand. Kneeling down on the floor she kissed Zaryab's cheeks and gave that money to him. "This is for your chocolates."
"More chocolates?" He asked with enthusiasm and Shifa gave him a fake duh look. "Of course more chocolates, because you'll be sharing them with me. Right?" She whispered the reason and Zaryab giggled and nodded.
"Shifa..." Adeena slightly opened her arms and Shifa smiled wholeheartedly while hugging her. "It was so good to meet you Gudiya Aapi... I'm feeling like I already know you but I don't remember where and when we met?"
"I'm glad to forget my laptop here otherwise I would miss something important. Feeling lucky to see you." Mumbling that Adeena broke the hug and left. Shifa looked at the door of the room and this time she didn't only shut it but locked it properly before throwing herself on the not so big bed.
Her Deni was in deep slumber, "May Allah give you everything you wish for. May I get the problems of your share but you stay happy and safe." she muttered with a sad smile and hugged Daniyal. Today she felt scared of losing this man two times. First when she had a dream regarding someone coming between both of them and second time when she saw Gudiya aka Adeena in a miserable condition, her condition was telling how she must be living without a loving husband. Shifa felt scared to face that phase of life. "I love you hubby." She whispered and Daniyal mumbled something in deep slumber which made Shifa giggled.
"I'm not an idiot but this man is."
<><><><>
A hand lightly stroked her hair which disturbed her beauty sleep. Opening her eyes a bit she again closed them to capture a blurred image. Her sleepy mind processes the image which took a figure of a man, it's not Deni then... Who's this man? Her mind asked and she still felt that hand on her head.
Taking a loud gasp she moved backward with a jolt, her back hit the wall and heart beat faster than normal.
"Kya hua Shifa?" A worried Daniyal asked loudly and put the laptop aside before shifting near her. He snake his arm around her shoulders and only then Shifa noticed the man on the edge of the bed. He was also shocked due to this sudden act of his daughter.
(What happened, Shifa?)
"Are you fine?" Daniyal asked in a hushed as well as worried voice. Shifa took a deep breath and covered her face with both hands while trying to breathe normally. Her heartbeat was still uneven due to the sudden jolt of fear but seeing Daniyal near herself she felt better.
"Hmm..." When she removed her hands , both Daniyal and Aatish witnessed tears rolling down from her eyes. "Shifa what's wrong?"
"Deni..." She muttered and Daniyal nodded in response. "I... I thought..." She stopped for a while and wiped her tears.
"What?" This time Aatish asked but Shifa was only looking forward to her husband for protection and she whispered. "I suddenly remembered the night of the farewell party... I... I thought where am I and who's this man on my bed." Her whisper was barely audible to Daniyal so Aatish was only seeing his daughter in a confused manner.
"Oh.. it's okay. You're fine and safe." He muttered and withdrew his arm from her shoulders and Shifa slightly nodded while taking a deep breath. She never told anyone that she still has nightmares of that very night and possibilities of everything evil could happen if Daniyal couldn't make it at the correct time.
"I brought some fruits... I thought you may be hungry." Aatish explained himself, his voice was clearly indicating that he was weaker than ever and Shifa glanced at the plate which was containing different types of fruits.
"Umm... It was a nightmare... Nothing else." She muttered while sitting properly and Aatish lifted his hand towards her to caress her head. Shifa wasn't ready for this sudden fatherly love but when this hand touched her head she couldn't believe what she felt. There was a different pain as well as relief in that touch.
"Aap kyu preshan huye agar kuch chahiye tha to mujhe jaga dete." It was kind of formal but the very next moment she cried out when Aatish lifted a slice of guava from the plate to her mouth. Shifa didn't know how and when she opened her mouth to take a bite and Daniyal smiled. She was the same Shifa who told him to not bring guava as she doesn't like it a single bit.
(Why did you bother? You should wake me up if you want something.)
"Do you like guava?" Aatish asked while giving the remaining half slice to her mouth but Shifa didn't reply. Well, she doesn't like this fruit but she was loving this feeling. When Aatish didn't get a response from her he looked towards Daniyal who slowly shook his head and gestured towards the apple slices present in the plate.
"Aapko hua kya hai? Doctors kya keh rahe hain?" Shifa asked and Aatish slightly shrugged while giving another slice of fruit to her mouth.
(What happened to you? What are the doctors saying?)
"Doctor ko nhi dikhaya... lekin aaj to main bilkul theek hu. Dekho tumhare samne betha hua hu. Aaj to mujhe bukhar bhi nhi hua. Tumhare aane ki Khushi me meri bimari khud hi theek ho gyi. Tum sach me Shifa ho... Meri Shifa." Mumbling the last part Aatish put the plate of fruits aside and slightly pulled his daughter in a side hug. Her eyes kept flowing tears and heart felt the urge to hug her father back.
(I didn't consult with a doctor... but today I am completely fine. Look at me, I'm sitting in front of you. Today I didn't even have a fever. In the happiness of your arrival, my illness got cured by itself. You are really Shifa... my Shifa.)
[Note: Shifa means Health and Healing power.]
"Bas ab aap roona band kariye, main yaha aapko rulane nhi aayi." Shifa muttered while breaking the hug and wiped Aatish's face with the corner of her dupatta. "Aur, Kal subah aap mere sath hospital chalenge!" Shifa said like it was an order but Aatish shook his head.
(Now stop crying, I'm not here to make you cry.)
(And tomorrow morning you'll be coming with me to see the doctor.)
"Kal subah tumhe mere sath chalna hai lekin hospital nhi... Kahi aur."
(Tomorrow morning you'll have to come along with me but not to the hospital, somewhere else.)
"Where? And why?"
"What important work?"
"Wait for tomorrow!" Aatish left both of them confused but kept feeding fruits to Shifa.

After a whole 24 hours Daniyal was standing near the window enjoying the beautiful sight of Dehradun but more than the sight he was lost in some thoughts. Some deep thoughts. Aatish was sitting on the bed smiling like an Idiot, instead of spending time in his room he was present in the guest room where to buy some time with his daughter and son-in-law: the only family he had! Shifa was in the kitchen for, cooking biryani because when she asked Aatish what he would like to have for dinner he only asked for it. He was already tired of eating tasteless food and outside food so he made a demand.
"Dinner is ready, come fast otherwise I'll wolf it down alone." Shifa stepped in the room with a platter of Biryani and Daniyal sighed while glancing at her then again turned towards the window.
"Don't make these weird faces. I've cooked chicken curry and roti for you." She knew very well that Daniyal was already bored of having biryani.
"Chalo kuch to qabil-e-tareef kaam kiya aapne."
(Good! After all you did something appreciable.)
"Aapko bardash karna is se bhi zyada qabil-e-tareef kaam hai, aur wo main pichle 8 mahino se har rooz kar rhi hu."
(Actually tolerating you is more appreciable, and I've been doing it for the last 8 months.)
The dinner was silent, Daniyal took his share of Biryani without any guilt and in the end he whispered "today's biryani is not that good." Shifa's eyes had a hard look for him but he gave an innocent smile in return. "I'm just stating a fact."
"Because half of the ingredients are missing." She huffed while taking another portion.
"Why don't you both go for a walk? It's a beautiful place." Aatish's voice forced them to think about it
"Deni, you've only five minutes to get ready." Shifa ordered him while glancing at the clock which was reading five to eight and picked the empty plates before walking back to the kitchen. Aatish and Daniyal both blinked blankly on her order and looked at the dessert which was untouched yet.
"Deniiiii..." She re-entered the room and kind of huffed.
"Sheer to khaane do yaar." Daniyal said while filling the bowl with his favourite dessert and Shifa glared at him "Mujhe nhi abbu ko." He suddenly changed his statement as if he was afraid of his wife but she kept glaring at him.
(Let me have some sheer)
(I mean let me serve Abbu some sheer)
"Abbu khud khaa lenge, aap unhe apne hatho se to nhi khila rahe na? Aap fooran uth jaiye." Daniyal passed the bowl to Aatish and glared at Shifa with fake anger who just rushed towards the kitchen to do dishes.
(Abbu will have it himself, you got up right now.)
"Ye itni hi demanding aur ziddi hai?" Aatish asked in disbelief but Daniyal shook his head.
(Is she so demanding and stubborn?)
"Shadi se pehle to bilkul nhi thi, lekin ab hoti jaa rhi hai... Shayad har ladki biwi ban'ne ke baad aesi hi ho jati hai." Daniyal rolled his eyes while leaving glancing at his mobile to check the time but Aatish suddenly looked up at him, then slowly shook his head.
(She wasn't stubborn and demanding before marriage but now has become one. Perhaps every girl becomes like this after becoming a wife.)
"Iski maa ne to kabhi koi demand nahi kri..." while placing the dessert bowl down Aatish said for himself but maybe louder than needed. Daniyal looked at Aatish suddenly, his gray eyes were asking the question that his tongue didn't dare to convert in words, If her mother was such a great wife then why did you divorce her? And maybe Aatish read this question in his eyes.
(Her mother never made such demands.)
"Main zindagi ki pareshaniyon se thak gaya tha, mujhe laga tha zindagi asaan karne ka sabse asaan raasta ye hi hai. Lekin ab main zindagi se thak gya hu..." Aatish muttered and Daniyal looked away because he didn't want to send Aatish on a guilt-trip with his looks.
(I was tired of the hardships of life, I thought it was the easiest way to have a comfortable life. And now I'm tired of this life.)
After his eyes shifted to a soft look, Daniyal looked at Aatish one more time. "Abbu in sab baato ko mat sochiye... Aap kal subah tayyar rahiyega, hospital chalna hai na... Aapke checkup karane hain." Said Daniyal and Aatish didn't respond.
(Don't think about all these things. Get ready tomorrow morning, we'll go to the hospital for your checkup.)
"Chalein Deni?" Shifa walked in the room and Daniyal stood up. She didn't bother to change her clothes as they were okay as well as comfortable for a night walk, just grabbed her mobile.
(Deni let's go.)
"Abbu, we'll be back soon, so you need anything?" Daniyal asked and Aatish smiled when noticed a happy Shifa picking up her purse.
"No need to come soon, enjoy the walk, there is an ice cream corner nearby, you must try coffee toffee ice cream there, I'm sure she'll like it." Aatish told Daniyal who just nodded.
<><><><>
"Deni..."
"Hmm?"
"Whom do you love most?" It was an unexpected question from his wife when they were walking on the side of the road while having ice cream and she was hugging his arm.
"What do you think?" He showed his old habit! Whenever he was not willing to answer a question he put another question in reply and this dumb girl never understood what he was doing.
"Umm... Ammi!"
"How do you know everything?" Just to make her happy he asked and pointed towards a ladies clothes shop. "Wanna buy something?" Just another question to divert her mind from her main question and Shifa already forgot that, she just nodded.
"I've to buy something for Affo, that girl has already forgotten that she has a best friend too... I'll beat her like anything, she isn't even seeing my messages now, that Chomu has done some kind of magic on her, son of witch." Daniyal chuckled loudly on the last word and nodded, "he is definitely one... But will you shop for Afifa only?"
"Of course not Deni. I have to buy something for Ammi, Mumma and Badi Amma too... What will they think if we go empty handed."
"Hmm... I didn't think that way. But don't forget Mehwish." Daniyal reminded his wife about another Lady in the family and Shifa smiled wholeheartedly while adding... "And my little princess too..."
"Yaar Shifa, used to main apni beti bana kar apne ghar me rakh lunga." Daniyal said dreamily and Shifa adored her niece in her imagination.
(Shifa, dude I'll keep her in my home like my daughter.)
"Let's kidnap her together." She muttered and both laughed but Daniyal nodded while they both stepped in the shop. After spending something like an hour in the shop they both were already done with shopping for everyone. Grabbing an ample number of bags in their hands Shifa and Daniyal were about to leave the shop when Daniyal's eyes fell on a black coloured printed suit which was displayed on a dummy. "Show this one too." pointed out towards that he said and Shifa turned towards him.
"Now who's left? We already buy clothes for everyone." Shifa shrugged and Daniyal smiled.
"We didn't buy anything for my wife." And Shifa realised that she forgot herself. Taking back steps she stood up beside her husband "That's pretty na?" He asked and Shifa nodded. "Very pretty."
"Sir, this is the only piece left from an exclusive collection." Said the shopkeeper while showing the fine fabric and Shifa touched it to feel that it was as soft cloud but as warm as wool.
"How much?" She asked and the very next moment her eyes widened "only 3499."
"Deni, it's too much for a mere printed suit." Shifa lightly pressed Daniyal's arm to leave it but the shopkeeper listened to her.
"Ma'am, it's not a mere printed suit, it's made up of pure pashmina silk. It is a blend of 70% of pashmina wool which is known for its fineness, warmth, and softness. It is most luxurious, softer and warmer than superfine merino wool, and the remaining 30% is luxurious silk which gives it this royal texture." The shopkeeper read an essay in the praise of the fabric. "Not only this... See... That's the sign of the real Pashmina Silk." Said the man and the very next moment he poked the tip of a pen in the corner of the fabric, before Shifa and Daniyal could understand something he made a proper hole through which he passed the pen to the other side. Shifa couldn't stop herself from gasping loudly. Did that shopkeeper just destroy one of the finest pieces of his shop? But he rubbed the fabric between his fingers and palms and the fine yarns readjusted themselves to their previous position and the hole magically disappeared somewhere.
"That's the quality of real Pashmina Silk, people can fool you with the looks but no one will show you what we're showing to prove its authenticity." Daniyal was looking impressed by the demonstration, he looked at Shifa for her approval to buy that but she shook her head.
"All good but it's too expensive Deni. We'll buy something else." She whispered but Daniyal grimaced "Oh woman... Just shut up." He scolded his wife in the same whisper and turned to see the man standing in front of them.
"Pack this."
"Deni, you never listen to me."
"You must be the first woman stopping her husband to buy her something expensive."
"Probably second! Mumma is the first." She muttered but felt glad to have this man in her life. After spending some more time here and there they finally went back to the home, this time Daniyal was carrying all the bags and Shifa was walking beside him with a light weight cross body bag and another ice cream in her right hand.
"Deni..."
"Hmm?" Opening the main door of the home, which was never locked, he hummed and both stepped inside.
"Will you buy me another ice cream?"
"Are you mad? This is already the third one." His eyes widened
"Kanjoos."
(Miser)
"Kam se Kam aap mujhe bakheel to nhi keh sakti." Showing the shopping bags he grinned like a winner and Shifa rolled her eyes. This man and his urdu! When he could use many more words for Miser he only had chosen a tough urdu word which was Bakheel.
(At least you can't tag me with this label.)
"Achha ab muh mat banao, kal laa dunga."
(Now don't make faces. I'll bring one for you tomorrow.)
"Aap na typical husband bante jaa rahe hain."
(You're becoming a typical husband.)
"Aap bhi ek khud-rang aur khud-sar zooja banti jaa rhi ho." Shifa huffed while taking long steps to climb the stairs.
(You're also becoming a typical and stubborn wife.)
"Hell with you and your urdu." She muttered, Daniyal was surprised to see this new form of Shifa in which she was aggressive and angry. Otherwise she was a soft spoken girl. Well, this girl only has her husband to show every emotion, either anger, frustration, weakness, or love.
Daniyal turned to lock the main door when a loud voice echoed in the environment. "Deniiiiii.... Deniiiii jaldi aaiye..."
(Come fast.)
"Kya hua Shifa?" Taking two steps at once he reached upstairs. The first thing to come in his sight was the ice cream which was lying down on the floor just next to Shifa's feet. Daniyal looked up to notice a terrified Shifa whose face was looking pale.
(What happened?)
"Deni... Abbu..."
"What happened?" Almost running towards the room he asked but Shifa was frozen in her place. "he's lying on the floor and not responding to me." She muttered without noticing that Daniyal was already gone.
